Hometown Hero || Andrew Merriam Riding Across Canada for MS Research

Brantford is chalk full of hometown heroes. You know about Wayne and Walter Gretzky, but what about the hidden gems that not many know about who are doing great things for not only our community, but for many people across the country? One of those people is Andrew Merriam.

Next June, Andrew is going to embark on a coast-to-coast bike trip across Canada to raise money and spread awareness for Multiple Sclerosis, through an initiative he started during the COVID-19 pandemic, rubber4reseach.com, to end MS one kilometer at a time.

10 years ago, one of his good friends was diagnosed with MS. His father was diagnosed as well. Both of those are currently either in a wheelchair or walking with canes. Andrew wants to raise money and awareness for the 77,000 Canadians who currently live with MS. Canada is the number one country in the world, per capita, of people diagnosed with this disease.

Scheduled to begin his trek in June, Andrew will start on the west coast riding five / six days a week. He is going on this journey with a group of friends who are also committed to the cause.

From Vancouver, British Columbia to Lunerberg, Nova Scotia, Andrew hopes to raise $150,000 for MS. You can keep up to date with Andrew and his journey, as well as any other fundraising event he will be holding before he leaves, at http://www.rubber4research.com
